The California Historical Society was founded in 1871. A nonprofit, privately funded, membership organization, CHS is the state’s official historical society. Its mission is to engage the public’s interest and participation in collecting, preserving, and presenting art, artifacts, and written materials relevant to the history of California, and to support historical research, publication, and educational activities. |

The California Historical Artillery Society (CHAS) reaches out and captivates audiences around the nation with it's horse drawn Artillery Detachments. CHAS is a non-profit, educational organization dedicated to preserving the life and times of historic artillery. CHAS has been recognized as the most authentic and highly trained horse drawn artillery unit in the country, second only to the present day United States Army's permanent demonstration detachment at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. |
