3x5' Appliqued/Embroidered Cotton flag with canvas heading with brass grommets.

Rattlesnake emblems were well known during the revolutionary period. This one, known for Colonel Gadsden of South Carolina, was the flag of the Commander in Chief of the Continental Navy, when his ships were put to sea for the first time in February, 1776.
